Leader -turned -actor Kamal Haasan has also jumped into language politics. On Wednesday, he alleged that efforts are being made to make the country ‘India’ from ‘India’. He said that the central government, especially BJP leadership, are trying to impose Hindi on many states including Tamil Nadu.
Kamal Haasan made this comment during a meeting called by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, which discussed the delimitation and Hindi language. A resolution was passed in this meeting, which will be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The root of the word ‘Hindia’ and controversy
The word ‘Hindia’ was first used by MK Stalin in 2019, when Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Hindi and described Hindi as the identity of India. Stalin reacted strongly to this and said-
“This is India, not Indian!”
Many Tamil Nadu leaders, including Kamal Haasan, have been accusing the central government of imposing Hindi.
History of Tamil Nadu and language movement
In the 1960s in Tamil Nadu, the anti -Hindi movement caught fire. Even at that time, there were major demonstrations in Tamil Nadu against the central government’s efforts to make Hindi a national language.
Now the same language dispute has arisen again. This time the matter started with the statement of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, in which he said that –
*”If a state does not apply the Turban Formula, the Central Government *Their funds can stop. “
Started reaction by Stalin Family and DMK
MK Stalin strongly criticized the statement and wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi and called it an attempt to blackmail states.
His son Udayanidhi Stalin said that –
“If needed, Tamil Nadu is ready for another language war.”
Kamal Haasan also repeated this feeling and said-
“Tamils have sacrificed for their language, so do not try to play with us.”
Kamal Haasan’s objection to delimitation
Kamal Haasan also surrounded the central government on the issue of delimitation. They said that-
“South India, especially Tamil Nadu, should not be harmed in the case of Lok Sabha seats.”
In fact, if the 2021 census data is used in the delimitation process, the Lok Sabha seats of the southern states may be reduced. Instead, there is a demand to make the 1971 census a basis.
Many states including Tamil Nadu have expressed apprehension that-
The new census may reduce the number of Lok Sabha seats.
They may have to suffer political losses.
Kamal Haasan demanded that-
The central government should also increase the number of assembly seats in Tamil Nadu, which is currently 234.
If the assembly seats are increased, it will affect political equations.
Future path: What will increase controversy?
The language issue has always been sensitive in Tamil Nadu, and there is a possibility of new debate about Hindi.
The issue of delimitation can affect the political balance of South India vs. North India.
Both DMK and Kamal Haasan are becoming vocal against the decisions of the central government.
The thing to see in the coming time will be that –
Will the central government show any softness on language and delimitation issues, or will this dispute deepen?
