Navi Mumbai: In a major crackdown on unauthorized debris dumping, CIDCO, along with local police and other authorities, apprehended three dumper drivers attempting to unload hazardous debris in Ulwe. The operation, conducted on March 1, aimed to curb illegal dumping on CIDCO-acquired and developing lands, which poses significant health and environmental risks.

The Nhava Sheva Police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 271 and 62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. The accused were identified as Pankaj Pal (24), a resident of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh; Shakil Ahmad Siddiqui (31), a resident of Govandi, Mumbai; and Mohammad Ansar (48), a resident of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. They were caught dumping debris from their trucks along the MTHL Atal Setu lane leading to Ulwe near Shivajinagar Toll Naka, Navi Mumbai.

According to officials, the operation was led by CIDCO’s Chief Vigilance Officer, along with vigilance officers, security personnel, engineering department officials, and police officers. The authorities have urged the public to report any unauthorized dumping within CIDCO’s jurisdiction through the official website www.cidco.maharashtra.gov.in or at the nearest police station.

“We urge people to come forward and inform us about any illegal dumping of debris and their names would be kept confidential,” a cidco officer said.
