Upi payment fee: Soon you may have to pay a fee for using UPI Payment App. Actually, the government has drastically cut the subsidy given to traders on UPI service. Therefore, companies are now preparing to recover it from customers. In such a situation, using UPI app will become expensive. Companies have also started charging fees from customers. Google Pay has started charging fees on several transactions. Google Pay has imposed 0.5 percent and 1 percent fee on debit cards and credit cards. Paytm and PhonePe have also started charging fee for mobile recharge.

Significantly, till now the government was giving subsidy on transactions less than Rs 2,000. Every year Person to Merchant Transaction costs a burden of Rs 12,000 crore. There is a burden of Rs 4,000 crore on transactions less than Rs 2,000.

When and how much subsidy got

For this item, the government received a subsidy of Rs 2,600 crore in the year 2023. At the same time, in the year 2024, the amount of this subsidy was Rs 2,484 crore. At the same time, this subsidy has been reduced to Rs 477 crore for the year 2025.

In today’s time, UPI has become an important part of our life. On an average, a person is doing about 60 to 80 percent of the transactions through UPI every day. This is the reason that crores of UPI transactions are taking place every day in India, through which there is a transaction of hundreds of crores of rupees. However, many companies across the country provide online payment through UPI.

UPI is being used not only for shops but also for many other services. In today’s time, people are using UPI for petrol-diesel, mobile recharge, DTH recharge, many types of bill payment, railway-flight tickets, movie tickets, fastags, gas booking, money transfer, metro card recharge, insurance premium etc. In such a situation, if the fee is implemented on the use of UPI payment apps, then a large number of people will be affected.
