The written examination for the post of Chief Loco Inspector (CLI) in Level-7 of the Electrical Running Department under the Mumbai Central Division of Western Railway has been officially cancelled due to administrative reasons. The examination, which was conducted on January 18 and 19, 2025, has now been declared null and void, as per an official memorandum issued by the railway authorities on March 4, 2025.

The notification cites an earlier office memorandum dated January 8, 2025, and a selection cell note dated March 3, 2025. The cancellation decision was taken with the approval of the competent authority, according to a notice signed by Raghuveer Singh Shekhawat, Assistant Personnel Officer (Mechanical), Mumbai Central Division.

“Supervisors and in-charge officials have been directed to inform all concerned employees about this development. A fresh date for the written examination will be announced separately,” the notification further stated.

Allegations of Irregularities in Railway Department Exams

While the official notification cites administrative reasons for the cancellation, sources indicate that several zones of Indian Railways are currently facing allegations of irregularities in departmental examinations. In some cases, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already taken up the matter for further probe.

Although no official statement has been made linking the Mumbai Central Division exam cancellation to these ongoing investigations, the move has raised speculation among railway employees. Many candidates who appeared for the examination are now demanding transparency in the selection process and clarity on when the fresh examination will be scheduled.
