IPL 2025 Rules: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented strict rules for the Indian Premier League (IPL). In which the focus is on the access and movement of the players. The BCCI has banned the players and associate staff from entering the player and match officer sector (PMOA) before the match and during the match. It also includes complete ban on entry into the dressing room during the practice session.

According to media reports, according to the new rules of BCCI, players will have to use the team bus for practice. Teams can travel in a group of two. This rule reflects strict protocols implemented to the players of Team India during international matches. This information was recently given to all IPL franchises via email. All the teams participating in the IPL were informed about the new rules after the team management meeting on 18 February.

According to the new rules, only recognized employees will be allowed to enter the dressing room and playground in the days of practice (before and during the tournament). Families and friends of players will be able to travel in separate vehicles. They can see the practice of the team from the hospitality region. The list of assistant staff (specialist/net bowler) will have to be submitted to the BCCI for approval. Once approved, they will be recognized.

Fitness Test and Orange-Post Cap rules…

The BCCI has banned fitness testing near the main square near the pitch during the match days. Additionally, the BCCI has made it mandatory that the Orange and Purple Cap given to the player who scored the most runs and the most wicket -taking players will have to wear for at least two overs and during the prize distribution ceremony after the match. Additionally, wearing a sleeveless jersey is prohibited during this presentation.

Meeting with all team captains on 20 March

To implement these rules, the BCCI has held a personal meeting with the captains of all IPL teams. The meeting is going to be held on 20 March at the Cricket Center in Mumbai. The upcoming IPL 2025 will start on 22 March with the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The following rules will apply in IPL 2025

SOP (standard operating process) during the tournament.

1. Teams will get 2 nets in the practice area and a side wicket for range hitting on the main square of the pitch. If both teams practice in Mumbai at the same time, then both teams will get 2-2 wickets.

2. Open nets will not be allowed.

3. If one team ends its practice quickly, the other team will not be allowed to use the wicket of another team for practice.

4. Practice will not be allowed during the match days.

5. There will be no fitness test at the main square on the match day.

6. The days of practice (before the tournament and during the tournament) only recognized employees are allowed to go to the dressing room and sports ground. The player’s family and friends will travel in separate vehicles.

8. Practice during the match days will be the site manager POC (contact point) for any request related to fitness testing.

Rules during the match

1. PMOA recognized personnel will get admission with a recognition letter on the day of the match. If you do not bring an identity card for the first time, you will be warned. The second time will be fined for doing so.

2. Despite providing a hitting net, the players keep hitting the LED board, the BCCI requested them to comply with it.

3. Players and associate staff should not sit in front of the LED board. The sponsor team will determine a place on the FOP where they can sit with a towel and water bottle.

4. Players will wear orange and purple hats. If the players are not wearing a cap, they are requested to be wearing a cap for the first two overs till the broadcast is over.

5. Flopy and unstable jersey is not allowed in the presentation after the match. Failure to do so will be warned for the first time and the second time will be fined.

6. Like the IPL 2024 season, only 12 recognized assistant employees, including the team doctor, will be allowed in the match days.

7. You have to inform 24 hours in advance to change your jersey number.
