Ahmedabad: Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India declined by 5.6 percent to $ 10.9 billion on an annual basis in the October-December quarter of the current financial year 2025 due to global economic uncertainties. This information has been received from government data. The FDI flow during October-December 2023–24 was $ 11.55 billion.

According to data from the Department of Industry and Internal Trade Promotion, the interval in the July-September quarter of the current financial year increased by about 43 percent to $ 13.6 billion compared to the previous year, and in the last April-June quarter it increased by 47.8 percent to $ 16.17 billion compared to the previous year. Thus, the total foreign direct investment rose by 27 percent to $ 40.67 billion during April-December 2024–25, which was $ 32 billion in the same period of 2023–24.

The total FDI, including equity flow, regenerated income and other capital, increased by 21.3 percent to $ 62.48 billion in the first nine months of the current financial year. The total FDI in April-December 2023-24 was $ 51.5 billion.

During April-December 2024-25, Singapore ($ 12 billion vs $ 7.44 billion), America ($ 3.73 billion vs $ 2.83 billion), Netherlands ($ 4 billion vs $ 2.27 billion), UAE ($ 4.14 billion $ 2. 2.43 billion), ($ 1966 million $ 215 million) and FDI equity flow increased from top countries, including Cyprus ($ 1.18 billion versus $ 796 million). However, investment coming from Mauritius, Japan, Britain and Germany has declined on the other hand.

FDI flows have increased in region -wise, service, computer software and hardware, trade, telecom, automobiles and chemicals. The FDI in the service sector increased to $ 7.22 billion during the first nine months of the year, which was $ 5.18 billion in the same period last year.

According to the data, Maharashtra had the highest invested $ 16.65 billion during April-December 2024-25. After this, Karnataka ($ 4.5 billion) and Gujarat (about 5.56 billion dollars) were leading in attracting foreign investment.
