The left -handed spinner made his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 22 and kept playing till the age of 48. He took 589 wickets in India’s major domestic competitions, including taking 10 wickets in a match 13 times. Shivalkar has taken 16 wickets in 12 List A matches. He was awarded the CK Naidu Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Cricket Board in 2017. Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Ajinkya Naik said, “Mumbai cricket has lost a true veteran today.” Padmakar Shivalkar Sir’s contribution to the game, especially as one of the greatest spinners of all time, will always be remembered. ‘

The great Sunil Gavaskar paid tribute to Mumbai and domestic cricket veteran Padmakar Shivalkar on Monday, saying he was more entitled to play in the Indian team than other people. Shivalkar was one of the best spinners in the country, who never got a chance to play for the national team. Gavaskar wrote an emotional message on the death of Shivalkar, saying, “This is really a very sad news.” In a very short time, Mumbai cricket has lost two of its legendary players Milind and Padmakar. Both of them were the main speakers of many wins.

He said, ‘As Indian captain, I regret that I could not persuade national selectors to include’ Paddy ‘in the Test team. He was more entitled to join the Indian team than other bowlers. You can call it luck. He was a bowler to ensure Mumbai’s victory by dismissing the best batsmen of the opposing team. He could bowl throughout the day with his run-up and beautiful action. ‘Paadi’ was a unique person and I am deeply saddened by his death. “Om Shanti”
