Mumbai: A 28-year-old man allegedly beat up and killed a 14-year-old boy during an argument on Saturday. The incident occurred in Chembur’s Deonar when the teenager asked him why you misbehaved with the latter’s sister. The police arrested the accused, Saib Alibaduddin Sawant, who works as a laborer at the APMC market in Vashi.
Around 9 PM on Saturday, Sawant and the 14-year-old boy were sitting outside in the neighbourhood with a few others. During their conversation, the boy asked why Sawant acted inappropriately with his sister.
In response, Sawant kicked the teen, leading to a heated argument. The argument became more serious when the man slammed the teenager onto the ground and banged his head against it. He then kicked him in the face multiple times. Passersby intervened to separate the two and rushed the boy to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead during treatment, as per the officials.
”The Deonar police arrested Sawant for murder on Sunday. An officer stated that they have recorded the statements of eyewitnesses, and further investigation is underway”. as per reports by Hindustan Times.
In Navi Mumbai’s Koparkhairane, a speeding tanker collided with a bullet bike around 5 a.m. in Sector 1. The 21-year-old rider died in the accident, and the Pillion rider was injured. The lack of helmets has been cited as a major factor in the fatality. The Koparkhairane police have registered a case against the tanker driver and have taken him into custody.
“Ali lived with his brother-in-law in Sector-4, Koparkhairane, and worked at his garage. Not much is known about his friend or their intended destination. The family was not in a condition to speak,” said API Abhijit More from the Koparkhairane police station.
