A great news may come for central government employees and pensioners. Will the government announce to increase dearness allowance on Wednesday, March 5, 2025? Looking at the records of previous years, the government has announced an increase in DA before Holi. In such a situation, it is expected that after the cabinet meeting, the increase in DA may be announced.

Under the 7th Pay Commission, dearness allowance is extended twice a year. The first increase applies from 1 January and second from 1 July. This time too, the government can follow the previous trends and give a gift to the employees before Holi.

Will dearness allowance increase 3%?

The government can announce an increase in 3% DA. If this happens, there will be a good increase in the salary of government employees.

Those whose basic salary is Rs 18,000 can increase by Rs 540 per month in their salary.
If there is a 4% increase, this increase can go up to Rs 720.
This will directly benefit millions of employees and pensioners of the central government.

Let’s know how DA is calculated and how much will it affect your salary.

How is the dearness allowance calculated?

If an employee has a monthly salary of Rs 30,000 and his basic salary is Rs 18,000, then he is getting 50% DA i.e. Rs 9,000.

If DA grows 3%:

New Da: 53%
New DA Amount: Rs 9,540
Increase in salary: Rs 540 per month

If DA grows 4%:

New Da: 54%
New DA Amount: Rs 9,720
Increase in salary: Rs 720 per month

That is, due to increasing DA, there will be a direct effect in the salary of the employees.

How much DA was increased last year?

In March 2024, the government increased by 4% to reach 50% to DA.
In October 2024, there was a 3% increase again, causing DA to 53%.
Now from January 2025, again 3-4% is expected to increase.

However, whenever the government announces to increase DA, it will be considered applicable from 1 January 2025.

More than 1 crore government employees and pensioners will benefit

More than 1 crore employees and pensioners of the Central Government will get direct benefit of increase in DA. According to government rules:

DA (dearness allowance) and DR (inflation relief) are revised twice a year – in January and July.
If the government increases DA by 3-4%, then there will be a good increase in the salary of government employees.

Now everyone’s eyes are on the cabinet meeting of March 5, where the government can announce an increase in dearness allowance.
