Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal Police Commissionerate has launched a special WhatsApp helpline for the deaf and mute people. Police commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra inaugurated the helpline at a function held in the Commissioner Office auditorium on Monday evening.

Addressing the media persons after the inauguration, Mishra said, “Bhopal police have taken a unique step to ensure that the deaf and mute individuals get a direct access to police support in times of need.”

The helpline, available on WhatsApp number 7587628112, will function through video calls, allowing individuals with hearing and speech impairments to convey their problems effectively.

Police officials have received special training to assist in these cases and ensure smooth communication. The helpline will be operational round the clock, providing assistance in special circumstances where immediate police support is needed.

The calls will be monitored from the police control room, ensuring prompt action and response.

To support this initiative, 40 police personnel have undergone special training to help handle cases involving the deaf and mute. In case of any mobile restrictions or urgent requirements, the police will lend assistance.

The new helpline aims to make police services more accessible and efficient for those with communication challenges, ensuring a safer and more supportive environment for all residents of Bhopal.
