A disturbing incident involving an Ola cab driver has surfaced, where a 50-year-old passenger was allegedly slapped during a ride from Mumbai to Pune. The passenger’s son shared the ordeal on social media and stated his father was travelling alone on the cab, raising concerns over customer safety on intercity services.
The son took to Reddit sharing the cab driver turned off the AC, changed the route without checking with the passenger, and asking stopped the vehicle midway claiming gas was exhausted.
“My father was travelling alone. He’s in his mid 50s. He took the ola from eastern Mumbai to Pune. Initially, he changed routes by himself and wanted to come via Atal Setu which my didn’t want. The driver argued about this. Next, he switches off the AC in peak heat and tells my father there is no gas”, the Reddit post read.
The driver switched off the AC in peak heat claiming, “there is no gas,” and stopped at Khopoli, saying, “gas bharana hai.”

Passenger gets slapped
Through the post, it was learned the driver initially altered the route towards the destination with disproval of the passenger, and then resulted in few more instances that broke out an argument between the two parties.
During the argument at Khopoli, the driver attacked the 50-year-old man and slapped him. Throwing light on the situation, the son stated that his father was tightly slapped by the driver and he now carries injury marks on his face. The passenger retaliated, giving “the guy a tight one right back.”
Matter reaches police station
When the Ola cab reached Wakad, a few kilometres away from Pune, the driver exited the highway and stepped into the service road. In a dramatically development, “A really bulky goon” entered the scene. The matter escalated and they reached the police station.
The cops asked the passenger to lodge a formal complaint for any further action. But the man didn’t go ahead, considering it would ban the driver’s Old Id and impact his career.
“My dad being the considerate he is, also paid whatever additional dues the ola app said when the ride was ended ( it was pre paid)”, the post read.

The passenger stepped out and took an auto later for the rest of the journey. The Reddit user pointed out that Ola returned the money to the customer. “Surprisingly without us doing anything, amazon pay refunded the amount paid through it at around the time the ride ended”.
