Quick commerce or quick service platforms have become an integral part of many city dwellers, who rely on their services for their day-to-day requirements.

However, the reliability of these services, especially their fastidious USP of time and service, has often brought reasons of concern to the fore. In a recent development, a beleaguered customer expressed his discontent with the services of Swiggy Instamart, Swiggy’s quick service company.

Defective Products With No Seal

The customer accused the company of fraud and cheating.

The customer’s identity has been kept a secret over security concerns.

While sharing his ordeal, the customer said, “I made back-to-back 2 orders in which I was cheated by Swiggy Instamart. Both times the products were sent which were not working. My order numbers are: 199726055184369, 198937610125707.”

The Swiggy customer elucidated on the happening and claimed that both the order and the products delivered were defective.

The customer one was Portronics earphones, the second was a toy for a child, a pull-along dog toy. Both products had no seal, and were defective. I have shared a photo of the “dog toy” clearly showing that it was a used product sold as new.”

Furthermore, the Swiggy Instamart patron also claimed that he was provided with an invoice for either of the products.

Coupon Instead of Refund

As a result of this, the customer could attain help and clarity on the terms of warranty on the pair of earphones he had ordered.

The customer further accused Swiggy of violation of laws, and added, “I spoke to swiggy customer care, they said they will send an invoice in 2 days.”

“This is in violation of basic laws of the country, as you have to give an invoice with the product delivery. Second, this is in clear violation of the GST law of the country, you have to give a GST invoice for all goods sold.”

In addition, the customer also claimed that upon request for a refund, the company offered him a coupon and not the cash that was transacted.

He added, “I paid cash for which a refund is offered as a coupon(with a validity of a month), which is illegal, as I should be paid back the money since I paid money. This is totally illegal….the least that should be done is put money in a wallet, or take my bank account details and send it there.”
