Mumbai: The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has announced a special 50% discount for women tourists at its resorts across the state from March 1 to 8, 2025, in celebration of International Women’s Day. This initiative is part of the “Aai” Women-Centric and Gender-Inclusive Tourism Policy, aimed at promoting safer and more convenient travel experiences for women, according to Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai.

Minister Desai highlighted that the “Aai” policy was well-received last year, with over 1,500 women tourists benefiting from the discount. Encouraged by this response, MTDC decided to extend the scheme for 2025 as well. Women tourists can take advantage of this offer by booking their stays through the official MTDC website, www.mtdc.co.

In addition to the International Women’s Day offer, MTDC is introducing a broader benefit. The 50% discount will not only apply during the March 1-8 window but will also be available on 22 other selected days throughout the year, offering a total of 30 days of discounted stays. The additional dates will be published on the MTDC website, providing women with more opportunities to enjoy budget-friendly vacations.

State Minister Indranil Naik emphasized the government’s focus on enhancing women’s participation in the tourism sector. MTDC operates women-managed accommodations in Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Kharghar (Navi Mumbai), where all roles—from resort management and security to hospitality services—are handled by women. This initiative not only supports gender inclusivity but also generates employment opportunities for women in the tourism industry.

MTDC is also launching various initiatives to engage women tourists, including stalls for women self-help groups at tourist destinations. Additionally, heritage walks, adventure tourism activities, educational tours, and tourism training programs will be conducted. There will also be special opportunities for women guides and water tourism trainers, along with games and entertainment activities designed for female travellers.

Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department, Dr. Atul Patne, reaffirmed MTDC’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive tourism environment for women. The “Aai” policy is expected to empower women tourists and promote a welcoming atmosphere across the state’s tourist destinations.

MTDC’s Managing Director, Manojkumar Suryawanshi, noted that with March 8 being a holiday, a significant increase in women travellers is anticipated. The organization aims to ensure they enjoy a safe, enjoyable, and affordable tourism experience.

Women travellers are encouraged to take advantage of this exclusive offer by booking online at www.mtdc.co between March 1 and 8, 2025.
