Premier League giants Manchester United are in dire need of a goal-scoring striker after yet another poor show by Rasmus Hojlund. According to a report by Calciomercato.com the Old Trafford club is willing to let go of the Danish striker to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in a player-plus cash swap deal.

Manchester United are reportedly plotting a swap deal to sign Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli. The Serie A club is open to letting Osimhen leave in the summer, but only if his €75 million (₹671 crore) release clause is met.

However, reports suggest that the Red Devils are not willing to pay the full amount and are instead preparing a deal that would include €40 million (₹358 crore) along with Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Rasmus Hojlund’s poor form for Manchester United

United’s new manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen to bolster the club’s attack ahead of the 2025/26 season, making Osimhen one of their top targets. Hojlund, who joined Manchester United in 2023, has struggled in his second season at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old has scored in just two Premier League games, with his last goal coming against Nottingham Forest on December 7. His poor form has led to speculation that the club might send him back to Serie A as part of a deal to bring Osimhen to Manchester.

Newcastle to fight United for Osimhen

Napoli director Giovanni Manna has revealed that Victor Osimhen has a release clause in his contract and the club are “working to find a solution” to sanction his permanent departure.

Newcastle United scouted Osimhen at Lille before his move to Napoli in July 2020. They have continued to keep an eye on his situation and there was an expectation that Osimhen would leave Naples last summer after he handed in a transfer request and Antonio Conte was appointed as their new head coach.
