Navi Mumbai: Ulwe police has arrested a 35-year-old woman, her accomplice, and her 16-year-old son for murdering her 41-year-old abusive husband and dumping the body at the roadside.

The accused woman Reshma Sachin More a resident of sector 23 Ulwe, her underage son, and two accomplices identified as Prathamesh Mhatre (36)- an auto driver from Agroli village in Bealpur and Rohit Temkar (35)- a dismissed police constable, had allegedly planned the murder and intended it to show it as road accident.

According to police, the woman was fed up of the physical and mental abuse from her husband since last 17 years of marriage and wanted to get rid of him which she had shared with her friend Temkar who had allegedly first suggested a contract killing, said police. Due to lack of money, the woman herself decided to execute the murder to get rid of him.

According to police, Temkar had agreed to provide her with some pills which would make her husband feel drowsy. The woman allegedly executed the killing of her husband, identified as Sachin Devji More (41) on February 23; which was also her son’s birthday.

“The plan was to show that as a birthday surprise, the husband took wife and son in an auto for a ride and then fought in the auto rickshaw and then got out of the auto mid-way and then left. The same plan was made on February 13 night as well to show that the husband took her out on a ride on Valentine’s eve midnight but she could not muster the courage to execute it then even after feeding her husband with the pills,” a police officer said.

An unidentified body was found on the Wahal Creek Bridge along the Airport Service Road on February 23 by the police and the photo was circulated among their circles to identify the body.

On February 23, they registered a case of accidental death and on February 26, due to the constant questioning of her relatives, she was forced to come for registering a missing person’s case with the police wherein she narrated the story of the fight inside auto rickshaw after which her husband got out and left.

“The overall conduct of the woman was suspicious as she showed no worry for the husband who we had got to know by then was the same whose body we had found. We did not show her that we were aware of the death of her husband and started her interrogation. We also interrogated Mhatre in whose auto the woman claimed to have been travelling with husband on February 22. Mhatre finally spilled the beans followed by the woman,” the officer added.

In further interrogation the police found the chilling details of how the murder was planned and executed. On the night of February 22, the lady accused gave her husband Bitter guard juice mixed with the pills that Temkar had given her which made him highly drowsy.

The woman then took him in the auto rickshaw of Mhatre in which her son too was seated to Reigner Hospital in Ulwe but did not get down of the auto. “She wanted to show that the husband suffered a heart attack and hence planned to take him to hospital saying the same but later changed the plan and they went ahead in the same auto,” the police officer added.

The auto then kept riding around in Ulwe, Nerul, Belapur, Kalamboli, KAranjade and then JNPT. After reaching near JNPT, the auto stopped and she strangulated her husband with her dupatta.

She then planned to push him off the auto before some container to show it as accident which she could not do. They started going towards Ulwe and then she suddenly realised that her husband was still breathing. She then smothered him with her hand and pushed him off near Navi Mumbai Airport service road near Wahal creek bridge.

While Mhatre and More, who were arrested on Wedenesday, are now in police custody till March 5, the boy is in juvenile home. “The third accused is yet to be arrested and we are looking for him,” the officer added.
