Team India is already through to the semi-finals after winning the first two matches sin the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Men in Blue next face New Zealand in their group stage match on Sunday, March 2nd in Dubai. However, the injury cloud looms large with skipper Rohit Sharma’s fitness coming under the scanner.
While Rohit Sharma may have played down the issue of having a problem with his hamstring after India’s win against Pakistan, his movements during a training session says different story. According to a Times of India report, Rohit did not participate in any strenuous physical activity right from the beginning. He did not face any throwdowns throughout the session, which was India’s first after a two-day break
The report further states that Rohit started jogging gently with strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai keeping a close eye on the Team India skipper. While he was there throughout the nets session and had numerous discussions with head coach Gautam Gambhir and the rest of the coaching staff he did not play a single ball.
Will India risk Rohit for the final match?
The match against New Zealand will decide Team India’s position on the points table. Currently, they sit on top of the table following their convincing wins over Bangladesh and Pakistan in their opening two matches. However, a loss against Kiwis will see them slip to the second spot. This match will also give Gautam Gambhir to test bench strength before the big semi-final
