NIT Calicut: Dr. Shaiza Andavan, Professor of National Institute of Technology, Calicut, has been appointed as Dean of Planning and Development Department. The police case is pending against Mahatma Gandhi’s praise of Nathuram Godse on Martyrdom Day. The order issued by the Director of NIT stated that Shaiza Andavan has been appointed as the Dean of the Planning and Development Department from March 7, although this decision of the state government has been opposed by the Left Youth Organization (DYFI). Politics in Kerala has become hot due to this matter.

Let us tell you that in February last year, the police questioned Shaiza when organizations like DYFI, SFI and Youth Congress complained against his post praising Godse on social media. In the order of the director, the current dean Dr. Shaiza has been directed to take charge by 7 March to ensure ‘smooth changes’. Priya Chandran has been instructed to work closely with him. As per the order, this appointment is for two years in the beginning till further orders.

The process of appointing Shaiza Andavan as Dean

Kunnamangalam police questioned him at Shaiza’s residence in Chathamangalam. Kunnamangalam court granted him anticipatory bail. The police registered a case under Section 153 of the IPC, which is related to deliberately provoking the intention of inciting a riot. While Kerala’s DYFI wrote on social media platform Facebook, ‘The action to appoint NIT professor Shaja Andavan as Dean, Kozhikode NIT professor Shaja Andavan as an accused in the case of commenting on social media in support of Mahatma Gandhi’s killer Nathuram Vinayak Godse is condemnable.’

It was written in the post, ‘Shaiza Andavan called Godse, who killed Mahatma Gandhi on social media as the pride of India. After this there was a lot of opposition. Shaiza Andavan, who is not even the head of the department and is not senior to the Central Government -controlled Institute NIT, has been appointed as Dean of Plan and Development. He has been appointed to this post keeping in mind the Sangh Parivar’s suitability to support communal divisive politics.

It was further said, “Shaiza Andavan, who calls the killer of the Father of the Nation, is not even eligible for the post of teacher, his appointment to such post is unacceptable.” The DYFI State Secretariat strongly opposed the appointment of Shaiza Andavan as the Dean of NIT and demanded action in the case.
