Haryana Municipal Corporation Elections 2025: Even before the municipal elections in Haryana, the BJP has started an exercise to exclude rebels from the party. The leaders against whom the party has taken this action included former Mayor of Gurugram Vimal Yadav and former deputy mayor Parminder Kataria. The first phase of voting for Haryana Municipal Corporation will be held on 2 March.
Even before the Haryana Municipal Corporation elections, the BJP has suspended 78 workers from the party for 6 years. The party expelled leaders and activists include 44 leaders of Gurugram Municipal Corporation, 33 of Manesar Municipal Corporation and one leader of Pataudi. Some of these leaders are contesting as an independent candidate for not getting tickets from the party.
Suspended for six years
After much deliberation, Haryana Pradesh BJP decided to suspend these leaders from the party for 6 years. The expulsion has been done due to anti -party activities. The primary membership of these leaders has been canceled with immediate effect. The purpose of this action is to maintain discipline in the organization and convey the message of unity before the election.
Seven Congress leaders sacked
The Congress also had an exercise to sack seven leaders from its party last week. Haryana Pradesh Congress President Udaybhan decided to suspend seven leaders for six years on an immediate basis as per the order of the party. The order states that the party leaders and workers indulged in anti-party activities during the ongoing process of Municipal Corporation Election-2025. On receiving the report, it has been decided to suspend the said persons for six years with immediate effect.
Congress suspended these leaders
Those dismissed include former president of Karnal District Congress Committee Tarlochan Singh and Ashok Khurana, party leaders Pradeep Chaudhary and Madhu Chaudhary in Yamunanagar, senior leaders from Hisar Ram Niwas Rara and leaders from Gurugram and Harvinder and Ram Kishan San. He joined the BJP as soon as Rara and Singh were suspended. Rara lost in the last assembly election. While Singh defeated former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar from Karnal assembly seat in the 2019 assembly elections. Tarlochan Singh lost to Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini in the assembly by -election from this seat in May 2024.
