“Summer period is heading near and some villages in the district have started facing water scarcity. The tehsildar, talathi, and gram sevak should conduct visits to the villages and send the proposals for water scarcity planning,” directed district collector Dilip Swami on Tuesday.
Against the backdrop of the possible water scarcity in the district during the summer season, a review meeting was organized at the district collectorate on Tuesday. ZP CEO Vikas Meena, all sub-divisional officers, tehsildars, block development officers, and others were present through video conferencing. Resident deputy district collector Vinod Khorolkar, district mineral officer Kishor Ghodke, and other officers were present in person.
Swami directed that the talathis, gram sevaks, and tehsildars should personally visit the water-scarce areas and assess the water situation. They should submit proposals for tackling the water scarcity in these areas, according to the district administration. The officers should check the availability of water, water sources, quality of water, and other aspects. They should also create awareness among the people to use water judiciously. The works done through the employment guarantee scheme and health services should be planned accordingly, Swami said.
