Vidarbha’s Danish Malewar played a fantastic innings, scoring a century against Kerala in the Ranji Trophy final in Nagpur. Coming in at number four, he formed a solid partnership with Karun Nair, helping Vidarbha reach lunch safely.

After the lunch break, the duo extended their partnership beyond 100 runs. With this Malewar reached his second century of the season in his debut campaign, celebrating in KL Rahul’s signature style after placing his helmet and bat on the ground. He brought up his hundred in style, hitting a six and a four off Kerala’s Aditya Sarwate.

Who is Danish Malewar?

Danish Malewar, 21, was born on October 8, 2003, in Nagpur. The young batter made his domestic debut mid-season in the Ranji Trophy against Andhra and impressed with a second-innings knock of 61 while batting at number three.

He followed it up with scores of 56, 42, and 59 before hitting his maiden First-Class century (115) against Gujarat in Nagpur. Malewar has yet to make his debut in limited-overs cricket.

His father, Vishnu Malewar, is a passionate cricket fan who had dreamed of making his son a cricketer even before his birth. However, coming from a lower-middle-class background, he knew the journey would be challenging.

Danish & Karun stabled Vidarbha after shaky start

Kerala won the toss and chose to field in their maiden Ranji Trophy final. Vidarbha is currently at 227/3 after 78 overs. After a shaky start, Malewar and Nair steadied the innings.

Malewar is unbeaten on 130 off 238 balls, hitting 13 fours and 2 sixes, while Nair is on 76 off 175 balls, with 6 fours and 1 six. For Kerala, MD Nidheesh has taken 2 wickets, while Eden Apple Tom has claimed 1.
