If the devotee who worships Shiva every day worships Shiva with reverence and devotion on this day, then he gets the fruits of worshiping Shiva daily. At the last time of life, he does not get the mercy of Yamdoot, but by the grace of Shiva, Shivdoots send the soul to the shelter of karma, it is known from scholars.

On this day, Jalabhishek, Dugdabhishek, Panchamrit Abhishek, Sandalwood, Flowers, Dhoop, Deep, Naivedya, Tambool and Aarti are offered on Shivling and offering Dakshina according to the specific guidance or devoutly Shiva is worshiped.
Mahashivaratri religious tale
The glory of this day is also known from a religious story on Mahashivaratri. A hunter lives in the forest with his family and spends his life by hunting. Once, after wandering around for a long time in search of prey, he saw a deer going. He shot an arrow on him. The deer begged him to let him go for a while. My family is waiting for me. I will come back to meet him. Hearing this, the hunter was sad and he said, “Good morning, I will meet you later.” I am waiting for you here.
The hunter, distraught with hunger and thirst, climbed a tree and sat down. To spend time, he broke the leaves from the tree and started throwing it down. If we look at the good deeds of any birth of the hunter, then the tree was a bee tree and there was a Shivling under that bee leaf. He spent the whole night hungry and thirsty and on the other side the hunter’s family was also waiting for the hunter sitting hungry and thirsty.
The first deer came to the family by promising the hunter and told the whole story. Hearing this, the entire antelope family left without eating and drinking and walked before the hunter to appear before the hunter. By then the sunrise was done. Lord Bholenath was pleased due to the devotion of all and the glory of Shivaratri and blessed the hunter’s family as well as the deer and his family and he gained knowledge.
In this way, inadvertently worshiping Shiva on Shivaratri was so great. If worshiping Shiva with reverence and determination on Shivaratri gives such special results, then Shiva devotees worship with great reverence. That is why scholars say that worshiping Shiva destroys sins, auspicious results and the effect of virtue increases.
