According to a Punjab Police official, more than 100 police officers and employees who were absent from duty at various places during the Champions Trophy have been removed from their posts. However, several policemen dismissed refused to do their prescribed work. Police officers were deployed to protect the team during a visit between Gaddafi Stadium and a specified hotel in Lahore. However, he did not join it and even refused to take this responsibility himself. IGP Punjab Usman Anwar took cognizance of the case and ordered strict action against the policemen concerned. He said, “When it comes to the safety of international tournaments, there is no place for irresponsibility.”
Denying duty
It is noteworthy that no official statement has been made yet about the dismissed policemen refusing to perform their duties. However, several local media reports show that the sacked policemen were feeling the workload due to their long -term duty.
Pakistan has already been eliminated from the Champions Trophy after losing to New Zealand and India.
