Bajrang Dal members said that they will hold protests in Vakola if the police do not arrest the man accused of molesting a 17-year-old girl on February 16.

They have also demanded action against three policemen from Vakola police station who assaulted Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists who had reached the Vakola police station that night to held the girl fine an FIR against the accused.

On Tuesday, members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal met 

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Manish Kawadia and filed a complaint, demanding action against the police officials involved in the assault on their activists and the man accused of molesting the minor girl in the Gaondevi locality. Kawadia is reported to have assured them of appropriate action. 

On Monday, VHP’s provincial minister Mohan Salekar and advocate Akhilesh Gupta met Kawadia.

According to Gautam Ravaria of the Bajrang Dal, the organisation’s Vidyanagari district coordinator Jaikishan Prajapati and mandal coordinator Neeraj Jaiswal went to Vakola Police Station in Santacruz East to file an FIR under the POCSO Act against the harassment of a minor girl by members of another community. It is alleged that the police sub-inspectors assaulted Prajapati and Jaiswal, dragging them to the detention center and beating them brutally with belts, sticks and rods.

“The police filed an FIR but are yet to arrest the accused. We also want punitive action against the policemen who assaulted our activists,” said Ravaria.
