Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s Budget 2025-26 Focuses on Infrastructure, Healthcare, and Financial Reforms | https://x.com/NMMConline

Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has provisioned almost 5700 crores under the expenditure head for the financial year 2025-26. As per the estimates drawn by the civic administration only a sum of Rs 25 crore is projected to be the closing balance while the proposed revenue to be generated from various sources will be at Rs 5709.95 crore. Administration has estimated an incurring expenditure of Rs 5684.95 crore.

To achieve the expenditure part, administration has stated of generating revenue from various means this includes undertaking major financial reforms.

“To maintain a stable financial position, income and expenditure must be balanced regularly. This requires increasing revenue, proper utilization of funds, and keeping liabilities in check. With these aspects in mind, a lot of measures are being implemented,” said the commissioner Kailas shinde.

The measures undertaken are appointment of a special task force to implement concrete measures for revenue growth. Survey of properties that have been occupied without obtaining an occupancy certificate and imposition of taxes as per regulations.

To address internal modifications and changes in property usage a state-of-the-art LiDAR-based property survey is being conducted. A computerized system of the Sub-Registrar Office (IGR Integration) to enable real-time tracking of property name changes, transfers, and rentals, aiding in tax collection.

“The department aims to improve tax collection through data gathering, analysis, modern technology, effective taxpayer communication, and public awareness campaigns,” said an official.

The budget is stated to transform the city from a clean and beautiful city into a top-tier, livable urban space. Accordingly, the administration has decided to strengthen its healthcare service by having facilities like MRI scanning, chemotherapy unit, two additional dialysis centres, Dedicated Geriatric Ward for Senior Citizens and construction of a nursing college is proposed in the budget.

“The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is emerging as a new growth center, and Navi Mumbai is an integral part of this development. Hence, NMMC is responsible for providing all essential infrastructure facilities in the city and the budget is aimed to achieve this goal. A strategic implementation plan has been formulated for future developments,” said the commissioner,

The plan includes a comprehensive city mobility plan with emphasis on high quality roads, construction of new flyovers, budgetary allocation of 50 cr for acquiring more plots from CIDCO , developing more parking spaces etc.

“The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is working as a trustee institution for the development of the city. To fulfill this trust and establish Navi Mumbai as a new growth center, the cooperation of all citizens is essential,” concluded the commissioner.
