New York: A flight from American Airlines from New York to Delhi was diverted to Rome in Italy due to a bomb threat. The flight had 199 passengers and 15 crew members. After getting nothing during the inspection, the aircraft was approved to go to Delhi and the aircraft has already left.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that American Airlines flight AA 292 was launched at Lyonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome at 5:30 pm local time after being diverted towards Rome due to security issue.
American Airlines requested that the flight be diverted to Rome for safety check due to suspected bomb threat. After this, the officials immediately investigated and after getting security approval, the aircraft left for Delhi. The airline apologized to the passengers for inconvenience and said that this step had to be taken following the protocol of Delhi Airport. When the aircraft went to Italy, it was provided security by the Italian Air Force aircraft. The aircraft is expected to reach Delhi on Tuesday morning.
