New Delhi: The Customs Department has arrested a 20 -year -old woman for smuggling drugs worth more than Rs 11 crore by hiding in food items and rice packets at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, officials Said in the statement. The accused was stopped when he came from Bangkok.
Eight packets of food items and rice were seized during the trolley bag examination. It contained a green intoxicating substance. Which is suspected to have ganja or marijuana. The total weight of the drug was 11,284 grams.
Initial testing of seized materials showed that it is hemp or marijuana. The estimated market price of seized materials is Rs 11.28 crore.
The woman, a resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested and the narcotics have been confiscated.
Earlier, officials said in a statement that a person who arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport from Bangkok was arrested and a diamond -studded gold necklace worth Rs 6.08 crore was seized from him.
