Mumbai: Congress state President Harshvardhan Sapkal on Monday announced a ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’ on March 8 from Massajog in Beed district, which has been in the news for the gruesome murder of its village head Santosh Deshmukh.
About The March
The march will begin with prayers at the important spiritual sites of Bhagwangad and Narayangad for social harmony. Following this, the padayatra will start from Massajog on the morning of March 8 and will travel a 51-km route passing through Nandurfata, Yelamb, Neknoor, Manjarsumbha, and Pali, before reaching Beed city, where the journey will conclude with a Sadbhavana Sabha.
Sapkal said the yatra will be held as the social environment in the state has become “extremely polluted”. “It is important that the secular and progressive nature of the state is reinstated. The party will hold the Yatra from Massajog village marking International Women’s Day,” he stated.
Sapkal said the yatra is not political but planned with social responsibility. He said several leaders of Congress, social workers, students, women, citizens, and authors, will pay respect to the religious places of Bhagwangad and Narayangad before embarking on the yatra.
Sapkal said that a similar march would be held in the future in Parbhani, where a Dalit youth died in judicial custody after violence erupted due to the alleged desecration of the copy of the Constitution at Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue.
