Bajrang Dal members have protested against the sexual harassment of a minor girl earlier this month and the subsequent police assault on activists who protested against the incident at Vakola.
On Monday, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s provincial minister Mohan Salekar and advocate Akhilesh Gupta met Deputy Commissioner of Police, Manish Kawadia and filed a complaint, demanding action against the police officials involved. Kawadia is reported to have assured them of appropriate action.
On February 16, Bajrang Dal’s Vidyanagari district coordinator Jaykishan Prajapati and mandal coordinator Neeraj Jaiswal went to Vakola Police Station in Santacruz East to file an FIR under the POCSO Act against the harassment of a minor girl by members of another community. It is alleged that two police sub-inspectors assaulted Prajapati and Jaiswal, dragging them to the detention center and beating them brutally with sticks and rods.
