Fastag Rule Change: The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has given clarification regarding changes in fastag rules. Let us tell you that some time ago a report claimed that under the new rules, if the balance is reduced or the fastag is black listed, you will have to pay double tax if passing through the toll plaza. However, NPCI has made it clear that the new rules will not have any effect on the users.

Fastag customers will not have any effect

NHAI has clarified that the new circular aims to resolve the dispute between banks over fastag status when the vehicle passes through the toll plaza. The new circular also ensures that the fastag transaction is on time, so that people do not face any kind of trouble. NPCI says that new fastag rules will improve real-time payment.

It was earlier claimed that there would be 70 minutes

Earlier, it was reported that if Fastag becomes blacklisted on reaching the toll, the user will have to give double toll. But if the user gets his fastag recharged within 10 minutes of the fastag scan, then the fine will be waived. After receiving a low-balance alert, the user will be given a 70-minute grace period to recharge his fastag, so that he can avoid the fine before reaching the toll booth.

Advice for customers for automatic payment

NHAI has advised people to set an auto recharge by linking UPI and bank account to fastag wallets, so that people do not have to recharge again and again. Customers can recharge fastag in many ways. This includes UPI and Netbanking payment system.

Real time updates will be available soon

Currently, all national highway toll plazas use the ICD 2.5 protocol, which provides a real -time fastag status. However, some state highways use old ICD 2.4 protocols, which receive late updates. The government will soon convert these toll plazas to ICD 2.5.
