An explosion was reported on the premises of Russian Consulate in France’s Marseille on Monday. The development was confirmed by Russian foreign ministry. Russia termed it a ‘terrorist attack’.
The consulate is located on Avenue Ambroise-Pare. The explosion coincided with the third anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war. According to reports, the blast took place inside the Russian consulate.

There are no reports of any injuries or casualties due to the blast. Unidentified attackers hurled two Molotov cocktails, reported News18 citing local media reports. Authorities also reportedly found a stolen car near the spot.
“The explosions on the territory of the Russian Consulate General in Marseille have all the hallmarks of a terrorist attack Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said as quoted by TASS.
The entire area has been cordoned off. Fire fighters and law enforcement officials have reportedly reached the spot.
Notably, France is a supporter of Ukraine in the war against Russia. In February 2022, Russia launched the military operation against Ukraine.
