A major accident took place on Saturday in Nagarakurnool district of Telangana. A part of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel project collapsed, causing 8 construction workers trapped in the tunnel. The accident occurred 14 km from the entry point of the tunnel. A part of the roof collapsed in the under construction part of the SLBC tunnel, causing 8 laborers stranded inside for 30 hours. Telangana security team, Indian Army, Navy, NDRF and tunnel experts of the country are engaged in rescue operations. 24 soldiers of the Indian Army and 4 teams of NDRF are trying to save the workers.

It is being told that the 11 km long tunnel has been flooded, due to which there are problems in rescue work. The operator of the tunnel digging machine said that it was a major accident. Rescue work is going on. The excavation team will also reach the site. It will take 1-2 more days.

Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy visited the SLBC tunnel and took stock of the situation there. Regarding this incident, Telangana Minister Juppalli Krishna Rao said that he cannot guess the possibilities of escape, but if there is a little possibility, he will try to save them. It consists of 8 people, including 4 laborers, 2 company employees and 2 international employees. They are leaving no stone unturned and have made no mistake.
