Campaign against obesity: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a major campaign against obesity. He urged people to use less oil in food in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program on Sunday 23 February. Along with this, 10 celebrities from various fields including Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, businessman Anand Mahindra, famous singer Shreya Ghoshal and actor Mohanlal were nominated in this campaign to fight against obesity.
Campaign started to control obesity
PM Modi on Sunday launched this campaign to control obesity and improve health in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. Posting on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi wrote, ‘I nominate these people to strengthen our fight against obesity and to spread awareness about reduced oil consumption in food by 10%.’

Regarding this, PM Modi further wrote, “I urge him to nominate 10 more people so that this movement can increase.”
PM Modi, Bhojpuri singer and actor Nirhua, shooting champion Manu Bhakar, Bharatolak Meerabai Chanu, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, Indian actor and filmmaker Mohanlal, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, actor R.K. Madhavan, singer Shreya Ghoshal and MP Sudha Murthy have been nominated.
One in every 8 person is suffering from obesity: PM Modi
Talking about obesity, PM Modi said, ‘Today one in every 8 people suffer from obesity problem and this problem has increased four times in children. Citing the WHO data, he said that in the year 2022, 250 million people worldwide will suffer from obesity problems, which is a serious issue.
Omar Abdullah expresses happiness
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah posted on X, “I am very happy to attend the campaign launched by Prime Minister Modi against obesity.” Omar Abdullah has also nominated 10 people to pursue this campaign.
