A part of the tunnel being constructed under the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project in Nagarakurranul district of Telangana suddenly collapsed on Saturday, causing 8 people to be trapped in the tunnel. The state government said that rescue work is going on at the scene. The help of Indian Army, NDRF and experts is being taken. Late night an SDRF jawan told that it is not possible to go inside the tunnel, there is mud to the knees, we have to take another way.

 

 

 

Telangana irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who reached the spot, said that the help of experts working in a tunnel accident in Joshimath in Uttarakhand last year is also being taken. Apart from this, teams of Indian Army and NDRF are also posted on the spot. The rescue team has made arrangements to send fresh air to the tunnel so that the trapped people do not have difficulty in breathing.
