US President Trump on tariff: As soon as US President Donald Trump took power, he started taking steps that could be called extreme steps. Talking about the issue of tariffs, he has currently banned its implementation after imposing a 25 percent heavy tariff on Canada and Mexico, but he has retained 10 percent of the tariffs imposed on China. Now he has again repeated the matter of imposing tough tariffs on India and increasing the tariff on China.
India and China will be imposed ‘soon’ tariff
Donald Trump said that his administration would soon impose mutual tariffs on countries like India and China. He also said this during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to America.
Ready to adopt the policy of ‘Tit Ko Tit’
Speaking at the swearing -in ceremony of US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik, Trump said, “We will soon impose mutual tariffs.” If they pay a fee from us, we will also take a fee in return from them. This is quite simple. If a country or any company like India or China charges us, then we will also be charged according to the same. We have never done this before, but now we are ready to do so.
Trump jokingly said, Tariff is my favorite word
Trump jokingly said, “Tariff has been my favorite word, but I put this word in fourth place after ‘family’, ‘love’ and ‘God’.”
America’s ‘misuse’ by India in the name of business
Last year, during the US presidential election campaign, Trump criticized the high tariffs imposed by India and described India as a ‘big misbehavior’ in terms of trade. Trump had also said earlier that no one in the world can challenge his decision on tariffs. It is worth noting that before his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Trump signed an executive order, under which all imports from countries would impose mutual tariffs that put heavy tariffs on the US.
