While people can’t tolerate this fruit, a foodie challenged himself to try durian with beer. You said it right if you guessed this person to be Singaporean food vlogger Calvin Lee, who is known for his weird food experiments and combinations.

During his recent trip to Bangkok, Thailand, Lee tried dipping a slice of durian into a glass of beer. He poured a bottle of beer into a plastic cup and carefully touched the drink with a portion of the fruit.

He told netizens that he challenged himself to try “Durian beer” in the foreign country since in Bangkok durians are fresh and easy to find. He simply put the durian in the beer and gave it a good shake. While this act felt disgusting for a few viewers, others continued to watch and know his reactions to the durian-added drink.
The video recorded his verdict, and he said, “Very okay”.
He shared a joyous smile on his face suggesting he truly enjoyed the drink despite noting that many people would never approve this food fusion.
“I’ve heard people say you can’t eat durian and drink beer together because it’s fatal. From what I found online, there are mixed views about it, but I didn’t come across anything medical confirming that. Decided to try it out for myself because I was curious, and I felt fine after having 1 piece of durian with 1 bottle of beer. Didn’t experience anything unusual”, he wrote.
Video crosses 50K views on Instagram
In his video, he pointed out the beer tasted good with durian. “You can taste the bitterness of the beer and the durian coming together with a bit of sweetness”, Lee noted.
As the video rolled out on Instagram, netizens could not hold themselves from reacting to the “Durian Beer”. Netizens wondered how consumed and survived the weird drink. “You still alive?”, one wrote. “I’m impressed”, said another.
Lee’s video featuring him sipping the beer after dropping a durian chunk inside has gone viral and grabbed more than 50,000 views already.
