A major accident took place in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. A bus full of devotees going to Delhi from Mata Vaishno Devi fell into a ditch near the Mand area. 18 people were seated in the bus, out of which 17 were safely rescued and taken to GMC for treatment. The rescue team found the driver’s body. The body was sent to GMC by ambulance.

Police said that the bus is from Uttarakhand. According to the information received so far, the driver’s name is Rakesh, who hails from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh and has been running the bus for 22 years. Fire fighting and emergency service officials say the rescue work was difficult, as the bus had fallen into the ditch. The SDRF team and all other agencies arrived.

LG Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the accident and expressed his condolences to the family of the driver who lost his life. In fact, the sleeper bus coming from Nagrota to Ramnagar lost control over the sharp turn of the UK 07P-5640 Mand block. The bus got down from the road and fell into the ditch. After going into the moat about 30 feet, the bus stopped there with the help of trees.

At the time of the incident, people passing by started rescue work and informed the police about the accident. Since the rescue operation was not possible due to darkness in the said area, a vehicle equipped with flood lights of fire fighting and emergency services was called on the spot and lighting was arranged there. The injured were taken off the bus and rushed to the hospital immediately.
