Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Around 3-6% of the trains heading to Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh originated from Madhya Pradesh. The state shares this percentage with Maharashtra, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
According to the Railways, approximately 92% of the trains were from the Mail, Express, Superfast, Passenger, and MEMU categories, while 472 Rajdhani and 282 Vande Bharat trains were also operated.
Around 50% of the trains originated from Uttar Pradesh and traveled to Prayagraj, while 11% came from Delhi and 10% from Bihar.
Since the beginning of Maha Kumbh, a total of 13,667 trains have reached Prayagraj and its surrounding stations, carrying pilgrims. Of these, 3,468 were special trains departing from the Kumbh area, 2,008 arrived from outside the Kumbh region, and the remaining 8,211 were regular trains.
Prayagraj has a total of nine railway stations where trains operate. At Prayagraj Junction alone, devotees benefited from 5,000 trains.
