Singer Udit Narayan is currently embroiled in legal trouble after his first wife, Ranjana Jha, filed a maintenance case against him, accusing him of violating her rights and usurping her property. He appeared before the Supaul Family Court on Friday, February 21, for the case and refused to agree to a settlement.

According to Navbharat Times, Narayan accused Ranjana Jha of attempting to extort money from him. Earlier, a case was also registered against him at the Bihar Women’s Commission, but both parties had reached a settlement at that time.

The report further stated that the singer used to provide Ranjana Rs 15,000 per month, which was later increased to Rs 25,000 in 2021. He had also given his first wife land for farming and a house worth Rs 1 crore. Later, the Bihar Women’s Commission found that Udit had provided Ranjana with jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh and land, which she later sold.

Ranjana, through her lawyer, expressed her wish to stay with Udit due to her old age and deteriorating health. She stated that she wishes to spend the rest of her life with her husband.

After the hearing, Ranjana spoke to the media, stating that the singer ignored her and kept Rs 18 lakh from the sale of the land. Further, she also revealed that whenever she visits Mumbai, goons are sent after her.

Udit tied the knot to Ranjana in 1984, later, he allegedly abandoned her after gaining fame and even refused to acknowledge her as his wife, while Ranjana continued to fight for her rights.

Later, in 2006, Ranjana sought help from the Women’s Commission, after which the singer promised to provide her with a flat and other assistance, but later backed out.
