Uttar Pradesh: Mahakumbh Mela has reached its conclusion. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Prison Administration is arranging to bring the holy water to 75 jails across the state from the confluence of Prayagraj. This has allowed prisoners to participate in this program. According to the Mahakumbh office, Uttar Pradesh Prison Minister Dara Singh Chauhan has announced that the event will be held on February 21 in all jails from 9.30 am to 10 am. Jail department officials said that at present, more than 90,000 prisoners are closed in 75 jails including seven central jails across the state.

Holy Bath for Jail Inmates:

Director General of Jail (DG) PV Ramashastri said that arrangements are being made under the supervision of the jail minister. The sacred water from the confluence will be brought to all the prisons and mixed with normal water and stored in a small tank inside the gel complex. Officials said that after the Namaz, all the prisoners will bathe with water. It is being told that Minister Chauhan will also participate in this program to be held in Lucknow Jail on 21 February along with senior jail officials.

The prisoners expressed happiness:

Jailor AK Kushwaha of Gorakhpur District Jail said that the jail administration has sent the jail guard Arun Maurya to bring holy water from the confluence in Prayagraj. He said that Ganga water will be mixed into normal water to ensure participation of prisoners in Mahakumbh. Rang Bahadur, senior superintendent of Naini Central Jail of Prayagraj, said that a similar arrangement will be made for the prisoners on 21 February.
Senior Superintendent of Prayagraj District Jail, Amita Dubey said that about 1,350 prisoners are excited to take a holy dip in the Ganges water as they are happy that they will get an opportunity to participate in this holy and sacred event despite imprisonment.

Inauguration for Mahakumbh on 26 February:

Meanwhile, on 17 February, Unnao Jail Administration organized a similar program for its prisoners. Unnao Jail Superintendent Pankaj Kumar Singh said that a plan to bathe in prisoners in holy water has been started from here and on February 21, the jail administration will arrange for a holy bath for the prisoners, which will give them a second chance. The Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj will be held on 26 February.
