A major accident occurred near a construction site in Jafarabad tehsil of Jalna district of Maharashtra early Saturday. 5 laborers sleeping in it died after being buried due to sand dropped by truck on a temporary shed for the bridge construction project, including a minor.

Sand collapsed by falling sand, laborers buried

According to the police, the incident took place in Pasodi-Chandol village, where the workers were sleeping in a temporary shed. During this time, a truck driver inadvertently dropped the sand on the shed, causing the entire shed to collapsed and the laborers got buried in it.

The truck driver escaped from the spot after the accident. Police said a woman and a girl were safely rescued from the rubble, while five laborers died.

Identification of dead

The deceased have been identified as Ganesh Dhanwai (60), resident of Golegaon of Sillod tehsil and his son Bhushan Dhanwai (16), and Sunil Sapkal (20), a resident of Padmavati in Zafarabad tehsil. The other two victims are yet to be identified.

Bus accident in Jalna, two killed

Meanwhile, 2 people were killed and 3 others were injured after being crushed by a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus in Ambad in Jalna district on Friday.

Police said the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, causing him to trample the passengers standing at the Ambad bus stand. Muralidhar Kale (60) and Khalilullah Sheikh (70) died in the accident, while three injured are being treated in the rural hospital.

Police investigation continues

According to officials, it is being investigated whether the bus accident occurred due to a technical flaw or a result of human mistake. At the same time, the search for the truck driver who drops the sand is going on and the police have registered a case.
