Jalandhar, February 22: In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old man identified as Paramjit Singh died in an accidental shooting at a wedding celebration in the village of Chak Desraj in Punjab’s Jalandhar. The incident occurred during a “Jago Party,” a traditional pre-wedding event. The incident was caught on camera and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. It can be seen in the video that a man is passing and another person fires bullet which hits the victim and he falls to the ground reportedly due to the bullet injury.
What happened?
A video of the event shows a man firing a gun in the air as part of the celebration during the wedding function. The man firing the gun accidentally moved too close to Paramjit Singh, resulting in the accidental shooting. The man fired a total of three shots.
Initial Cover-up
Paramjit Singh’s family initially told the police that he had died of a heart attack. They proceeded with his cremation without informing the authorities about the actual circumstances of his death.
Viral Video Exposes the Truth
The truth came to light after a video of the incident surfaced on Saturday (February 22). The police have now launched an investigation into the matter and are searching for the man seen firing the gun in the video.

The police have started an investigation and are taking statements from the family members. They will also seize the weapon used in the shooting.
Different statements
While the family initially claimed Paramjit Singh died of a heart attack, the video clearly shows the accidental shooting. However, Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh stated that the man was not hit by a bullet. The police are still investigating the exact cause of death.
