Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Government doctors across Madhya Pradesh have decided to postpone their ongoing protest after health department officials assured them they would look into their demands.
Earlier on Friday, the doctors’ body, ‘Chikitsak Mahasangh,’ held a meeting with principal secretary Sandeep Yadav and Health Commissioner Tarun Rathi and discussed the fraternity’s issues.
The doctors have been demanding implementation of DACP—Dynamic Assured Career Progression, which guarantees time-scale pay and promotions to doctors in the Central government.
Their other demands include– proper safety for doctors and paramedical staff at the workplace.
Notably, over 15k doctors across the state launched a silent protest on February 20. Junior doctors at Bhopal’s Gandhi Medical College and at Indore’s MY Hospital were spotted wearing black bands on their hands to mark their protest.
The doctors’ body warned of a statewide aggressive agitation from February 25 onwards if their demands are not fulfilled.
The issue dates back to February 2023, when a high-power committee was formed to redress grievances of the doctors; however, no progress was reported.
With an aim to seek a final solution, the state health department reconstituted a committee, and its first meeting of officials was held at Vallabh Bhavan in Bhopal on Friday. The meet lasted till midnight, and after assurance from the govt. officials, Chikitsak Mahasangh decided to postpone its ongoing protest.
