Hamas handed over four bodies to Israel on Thursday under the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. But after this, Israel claimed that one of these bodies was not of Shiri Bibas, but of another Gaza woman.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted strongly to this and threatened Hamas to bear the consequences.
Hamas then accepted his mistake and handed over the real body to the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC), which will now be given to the Israeli army.
How did Hamas make a mistake?
A senior Hamas official said:
“There was a situation of chaos in Gaza due to Israeli airstrikes, causing the identity of the dead bodies.”
He claimed that Shiri Bibas’s body was messed with other bodies.

Israel threatened: Hamas will have to pay the price
Benjamin Netanyahu warned on Friday:
“We will ensure that Hamas paid the full price of this cruel and bad violation.”
Israel has indicated that it may take more aggressive action on Hamas in response to the incident.
Who were the four people whose bodies were returned?
On Thursday, Hamas’s armed branch Al-Qassam Brigade handed over the bodies of four Israeli hostages through ICRC.
1⃣ Shiri Bibas
2⃣ Ariel Bibas (his son)
3⃣ Kefir Bibas (his second son)
4⃣ Oded Lifshitz (Retired Journalist)
The four were held hostage in Gaza on 7 October 2023 during Hamas’s attack on Southern Israel.
Will Israel-Hamas struggle increase after this mistake?
Israel can now take strict action against Hamas for this “deception”.
Hamas accepted the mistake, but this has raised questions on his credibility.
The bodies will continue to be swept through the ICRC, but tension is likely to increase.
