Pune: Murlidhar Mohol Visits Home Of BJP Worker Assaulted By Gajanan Marne Gang Members | X/@mohol_murlidhar

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday morning and said he visited the home of Devendra Jog, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, who was assaulted by members of the Gajanan Marne gang recently.

Sharing pictures of the meeting, Mohol wrote in Marathi, “After the incident of assault on BJP worker Devendra Jog, my wife and I went to meet him at his residence. After being in Gujarat and Delhi for three days, I went to Devendra’s house directly after reaching Pune.”

“After understanding the entire incident from Devendra, I tried to reassure him and his parents. Devendra was severely injured in the assault and the accused have also been arrested. Instructions have also been given to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to take the strictest action against the accused,” he added.

The Pune MP further said, “Devendra is a talented computer engineer and is a very soft-spoken and calm-natured young man. It will never be tolerated that a young man like Devendra is assaulted. Today, such a thing happened to Devendra, tomorrow it can happen to any young man. Therefore, instructions have also been given to the Police Commissioner to take appropriate steps.”

Earlier, it was reported that the victim is working as a part of the social media team of Mohol. However, Mohol clarified that the victim was not working in his office. “The victim is not working in my office, but he is a BJP worker,” he said.

According to the police, at around 4:30pm on Wednesday, Jog passed through Bhelkenagar Chowk in Kothrud. He was heading towards Gujarat Colony. Due to a Shiv Jayanti procession, there was a crowd on the road so he momentarily stopped his vehicle. At this point, a man confronted him, saying, “Can’t you ride your bike properly? Jog replied that he had not hit anyone. However, before he could finish his sentence, another man slapped him hard across the face, causing his nose to bleed. Jog then fell off his bike due to the impact. Soon, three to four individuals began kicking and punching him. One of them removed his belt and struck him. After the assault, the attackers fled towards Gujarat Colony on their two-wheelers.

Later, a case was registered at Kothrud Police Station under sections 109 and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Three of the accused have been arrested, but one remains absconding.

Meanwhile, NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule questioned the law and order situation in Pune. “Even the close associates of Union Ministers are not safe in Pune city. A notorious goon attacked and injured a staff member of Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol in Pune. Now the question arises that if this is the condition for associates of the Union Minister, what about the common people? Goons have been rampant in Pune for the past few days. People are constantly brandishing revolvers and fighting on the streets. The Chief Minister should pay immediate attention to this and try to bring the law and order situation in the city back on track,” she wrote on X.
