Mumbai: The Neutral Committee of the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board, constituted by MHADA Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, will conduct a hearing on February 27, 2025, to determine the eligibility of 11 applicants for transit tenements. These cases have been pending for over 20 years.

The applicants have been notified to attend the hearing with necessary documents as per MHADA’s regulations. Previously, unauthorized occupants were evicted from transit camps, and these 11 applicants have not resided in the dilapidated tenements for two decades, necessitating a thorough verification of their claims.

A woman protester recently demonstrated at the MHADA headquarters, demanding transit tenements for the applicants. However, she is not directly affected by the issue. MHADA officials clarified that pressuring the administration in this manner was inappropriate, and the matter required approval from senior authorities before proceeding.

In response to the situation, MHADA has formed a three-member committee, led by the Deputy Chief Engineer of the Building Repairs Board. This committee will verify documents and submit a detailed report on the eligibility of the 11 applicants. Based on this report, a final decision on the allocation of transit tenements will be made soon.
