Actor and wrestler Saurav Gurjar has joined in the list of politicians and a handful of celebrities in criticising podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia for his distasteful comments on the show ‘India’s Got Latent’. It’s worth exploring Gurjar’s background, having also made an appearance at the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and threatened Allahbadia for his remark.
Born in Dabra, Madhya Pradesh, Gurjar performed the character of Bhim in the mythological television show Mahabharat that came out in 2013. Having been a national kickboxing gold medalist, the 39-year-old stepped into the world of wrestling via Ring ka King and wrestled under the name ‘Deadly Danda;. He was part of the heel stable, consisting of Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner, Abyss, Nick Aldis and Sonjay Dutt.
Gurjar made his maiden appearance in the WWE on March 25, 2020 in WWE NXT. He renamed himself as Sanga in January 2022 and formed a formidable tag team with Indus Sher, who later reformed himself as Veer Mahan. They defeated a credible tag team in Awesome Truth. However, Gurjar’s last match was the Andre The Giant Battle Royal in early 2024 before the company released him.

With Allahbadia facing severe backlash from all corners, Gurjar also uploaded a video on X and stated:
‘Namaste doston, Main hoon aapka Saurav Gurjar. Ranveer Allahbadia kaafi popular hai, podcast karta hai, kaafi logon ko bulaata hai. Maine bhi iske podcast dekhein hai. Lekin jis prakar ke shabdon ka upyog isne show mein kiya hai, woh maafi ke kaabil nahin hai. Agar aaj humne is baat pe action nahin liya, toh iske baad, doosre aur teesre aur chauthe, aur isne gandagi ki limit khatam kar di. Agar hume apne mahaul aur system ko bachaana hai, toh aise logon pe karwaayi karni he hogi. Freedom of speech ka matlab nahin hai aap kuch bhi bakwaas karo. Agar meri mulakaat is vyakti se ho gayi, na iski security mujhse bacha paayegi or na koi duniya ki taakat.”
(“Whatever he did on the show, he cannot be forgiven for that. If we do not take action against him for his behaviour, then more people like him will say similar things. People like him have crossed all the limits. We should take legal action against people like him who are spoiling our society and religion by saying such things, so that the next generation can be saved. The kind of things he has said, I demand the government to take strict action against him. I am very angry right now. I don’t want to use foul language. If I meet him anywhere, no one can save him from me for what he said on the show.”)
