National English School won their quarterfinal contest against St Columba School by 11 runs in the MSSA Late Manoramaben Apte Girls Under 16 Cricket Tournament at Hindu Gymkhana.
Batting first, the National outfit scored 76-3 in their allotted 10 overs. Opener, skipper, and wicketkeeper Bhumika Rai top scored with a good unbeaten 32 off 29 balls, laced with 2 fours. She thus bagged the player of the match award, an MSSA-SG Voucher of Rs 2,000 for her great all-round show, including 2 stumpings and 1 brilliant catch. Number three batter Aanshu Pal also scored 31. Kasturi Shah picked one wicket. In reply, St. Columba started off in a good fashion but suddenly lost heaps of wickets within no time and the game slipped out of their hands after being in a good position at one stage. They finished with 65-6 in 10 overs. Left arm spinner Twisha Barot picked (3-21) in 5 overs.
In another match at Hindu Gymkhana, Oxford Public School won by 10 wickets against St Joseph School. Batting first, St. Joseph School made 58-2 in their 10 overs. Tanvita Yuvaraja remained not out on 23. In reply, Oxford Public chased down their total comfortably without any hassle. They made 60-0 in 8.1 overs. Openers Ria Thakur and Dhruvi Trivedi made 31 not out and 26 not out respectively. Ria won the player of the match award for her great batting once again, which included four boundaries.
