Awareness of AI (artificial intelligence) in India is increasing rapidly, and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has taken an important step in this direction. He informed that NHI (National Highway Authority of India) is now considering installing audit cameras on toll plazas soon, who do more toll collections. After this, the audit of the data collected from these cameras will be done through artificial intelligence (AI).

Giving an example of the incident of Atrala Shiv Ghulam toll plaza in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, he said that our aim is to strengthen the process of cash collection from invalid or non-fasting vehicles through AI based audit. In addition, there are also plans to keep a strict monitoring on the number of receipts and passengers passing on the toll plaza. The Union Minister gave this statement in response to the questions of the MP of Dumak, in which he gave information about the rules made by the Central Government to deal with the fraud related to toll collection on national highways.
