Comedian Ashish Chanchlani, who was set to host a Valentine’s Day event in the city on February 14, has bailed out at the last minute amid the ongoing controversy surrounding his appearance on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. The comedian and YouTuber is facing an FIR for being a part of the controversial latest episode of India’s Got Latent.
Ashish had organised a private screening of Captain America: Brave New World on February 14 on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, and had promised to meet and greet his fans during the event. However, just a day before the event, Ashish took to his Instagram on Thursday and announced his decision to pull out of it.

“‘Hello Doston, I am not keeping well, so, unfortunately I won’t be able to attend and host the screening of the film ‘Captain America Brave New World’ on Valentine’s Day,” he wrote.
“But don’t worry, those who are selected can still go and enjoy the show. I know, I am gonna miss y’all so much! Love you 3000,” he added.
Ashish announcing his decision to step back from the event comes a day after he recorded his statement with the Mumbai Police regarding his appearance on India’s Got Latent as one of the judges. He told the police that the show was not scripted and that the judges were told to “talk openly”. He also told the cops that the judges and guests do not get paid to appear on the show.
The entire controversy erupted after Ranveer Allahbadia, who was one of the guests on the show, asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?” This did not go down well with netizens and multiple police complaints were filed against Ranveer, Samay Raina, Ashish, Apoorva Mukhija and others for “promoting obscenity”.
On Wednesday, Samay broke his silence on the fiasco and announced that he had deleted all India’s Got Latent videos from his Youtube channel. “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you (sic),” he wrote on X.
Meanwhile, Ranveer apologised for his statement and called it a “lapse in judgement”.
