Former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has openly interacted with his tenure and some important decisions. He told why he was sitting near God before the historical decision related to Ayodhya Ram temple. At the same time, he also reacted to him when Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to his house for Ganesh Puja.

Significantly, the opposition parties had fiercely questioned both these issues and sparked a debate on the fairness of the judiciary.

Why was Chandrachud sitting in front of God before Ayodhya verdict?

In an interview given to the BBC, former CJI DY Chandrachud said that his words are distorted on social media. He made it clear that he is a religious person, but he has nothing to do with his judicial impartiality.

They said,
“If you see social media and try to understand the words of the judge, then you will get the wrong answer. I do not deny that I am a religious person. It is not necessary in our constitution that it is necessary to be an atheist to be an independent judge. I respect my faith and my faith teaches me the universality of religion. “

He also clarified that whatever came in his court, he was given fair justice, irrespective of any religion.

Big revelation of former CJI DY Chandrachud: Why was Ayodhya sitting in front of God before the verdict?

“Attention and prayer get judicial balance”

The former CJI said that judges always work in the struggle. In such a situation, meditation and prayer is an important medium for them, from which they keep themselves balanced.

They said,
“Different judges have their own ways to find peace. Meditation and prayer are very important for me, but it also teaches me that every religious group and community of the country should be fair. ”

In fact, before the verdict on the Ayodhya case, he had said that he was sitting in front of God, about which many speculation was being made.

What did Chandrachud say when PM Modi’s house?

When questioned about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival at Ganesh Puja, he was questioned by former CJI Chandrachud as a general courtesy meeting.

They said,
“I think our system is so mature that it can understand that the formal meetings between the people sitting in high constitutional positions have nothing to do with matters.”

Along with this, he also made it clear that even before PM Modi came to his house, the Supreme Court had taken many important decisions, and the judicial process continued in the same way.

They said,
“The role of a judiciary in democratic society is not like the opposition in Parliament. Our job is to decide on matters according to the law, not to get entangled in political debates. ”

Who is the new CJI now after retirement?

DY Chandrachud retired from the Supreme Court in November last year. His place has now been replaced by the new Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna.

During his tenure, several historical decisions related to Ayodhya Ram Temple, Electoral Bond, Article 370 and LGBTQ+ rights were taken, which will be remembered for a long time.
